As a little girl I was always starting businesses; iced tea stands, shoveling snow, raking leaves, etc. I cannot remember a time when I did not have the entrepreneurial drive. In my twenties I started a candle kiosk in Market Mall called Shadows. It was an incredible experience, learning by trial and error just how much work goes into owning your own business. I worked all the time and learned the value of being able to delegate.
During the 7 years of running my candle kiosk, I hired 3 different bookkeepers. The experience was frustrating as I found the communication was poor and there was no financial guidance. It was this dismal experience that pushed me into learning to do my own bookkeeping…and just like that I discovered my true passion.
I attended SAIT, H&R Tax School, hired mentors and threw myself into “everything numbers”. I was fueled by the information this learning provided me as a business owner, and was eager to share and educate other entrepreneurs on what true bookkeeping support was.
As a life-long learner, I have continued to take many courses in business, bookkeeping and personal self-development to further my skills and knowledge.
Not only did you do a bang up job with my files but you also educated me on things I can do to be more prepared for the following year, and that is empowering! You have a beautiful way with people, paper, the Government, and numbers while respecting all parties concerned. Your integrity to detail is my assurance I came to the right person. You are not your stereotypical accountant for sure. Also thank you for the marketing advice as well! That is paying off too! Thank you Laurel!
